The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained the Commissioner of Policy, Personnel and Finance at the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Aliu AbdulRazak, and the Director of Finance and Accounts, Aminu Y. Muhammed, over alleged financial mismanagement in the 2025 Hajj exercise.

According to reports, the two officials honoured an EFCC invitation on Monday, but remained in custody late into the night. Their detention follows growing allegations of corruption and irregular spending linked to NAHCON’s Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman (“Pakistan”), under whose watch more than ₦50 billion is being probed.
Expenditures under scrutiny include ₦25 billion on tents, ₦1.6 billion on spouses, and ₦7.9 billion on contingency houses in Makkah, alongside alleged extra-budgetary spending exceeding presidential approval.
Other senior NAHCON officials have recently been questioned, while previous chairmen and commissioners are also under investigation. Stakeholders have called for the suspension of the detained officials and the disbandment of NAHCON’s leadership to ensure accountability.
The EFCC is continuing its investigation, with recovery of funds and possible prosecution expected.
